FAQs

What is the discharge of mortgage fee?

It is the Landgate registration fee for removing your mortgage from the title. If there is a mortgage registered on the property you are selling, you must discharge it at settlement before ownership transfers to the buyer.

You’ll see the fee on your settlement statement. It is not in our quote or in the instant quote calculator, because not every seller has a mortgage and the fee is only payable if you do.

Getting the discharge started early is what stops it delaying settlement. See Bank authority, an important first step for sellers.
